And we’re back…
Final Form haven’t disappeared off into the sunset, no no, we have been busy, under lock and key in fact, planning and getting ready for the summer ahead.
March has seen us striking a scientific pose or two- huge thanks to Candinski Photography for the first of our shoots.
We’ve set up base in our new HQ of Alaska studios – (friendly staff, beautiful transport links, a fine arrange of soft beverages and enough random percussion instruments to satisfy any sudden musical whim…)
We’ve also begun writing and recording our second E.P. Thanks for to all for your comments and support of our first EP so far, we are currently discussing a few things and we hopefully have some more good news for you soon.
We’re up on youtube! Keep your eyes peeled for some shiny new videos soon. They’re smoking…literally.
Finally – Our next gig is at the fantastic Borderline on Saturday the 6th of April. Get your tickets here. We’re co-headlining with The Merry Gang, and are very excited to debut our new track ‘Talk Talk Talk’ – see you there.

The 1st saw our live debut on stage at the Camden Barfly, to a frankly staggering response. I still can’t get over it. Thank you so much to the many, many people who came down and made the night such a success. Special thanks as well to the Barfly for their hospitality (especially the many beer tokens), and great sound and light set-up. (though what’s with the enigma-esque dressing room door code? that thing is like Fort Knox…! )
Setlist:
Intro
Eye 2 Eye
Chemistry
Starlight (Superman Lover cover)
These 5 Letters
Half-Romance
We’ll be announcing our next gig very soon…..
5th Feb: 3 days later and we were announced as the winners of the Limehouse recording studio competition who awarded ‘Eye 2 Eye’ this month’s prize. As a result we’ll be heading down there in a couple of Sunday’s time to work with them on one our new tracks…Apart from that we’ll be writing, writing, writing.
Think we might be onto something….

Our debut tracks have been quietly getting on with it since we let them leave the nest over Christmas. Here’s a brief round-up of what they, and us have been up to.
We’ve been reviewed by super-electro blog ‘VaderEvader‘ who said (not to spoil the end) the tracks were ”...a potent combination of crisp, vibrant tunes delivered with an infectious zesty enthusiasm“. Full review here . (Thanks guys!)
We’ve also been spotted by Aussie/Brit Mag ‘BBM‘ who mused; “The 5 track EP is packed full of cracking vocal harmonies, captivating samples and a diverse collection of electronic effects”. Full write-up here, and again, thank you guys!
Photoshoot
And as the picture above may hint at – we had a little bit of a photoshoot the other weekend. Stay tuned for the colourful results!
Spotify
There they were, quite happy on Soundcloud, when quite unexpectedly they called us to say they had a second home on Spotify. We were pleasantly surprised. You can listen to them on there, here.
And so we move onto Final Form’s top tracks of the year.
Panic Station - Muse
Disparate Youth - Santigold
Cough Cough - Everything Everything
Gangnam Style - PSY
Breezeblocks – Alt-J
Getting the top 5 was tricky to do, but these are the tracks that edged the “most popular vote”. Bearing all of this in mind, we’ve also collated a spotify playlist of all the music we’ve enjoyed over the past year – if it’s a good song, it’s a good song:
(If you can only see one song – press play, and use the >> to navigate to the next one if necessary!)
Hello all.
Inspired by a year of British triumph and the positive reaction to our first demo track, our little music project decided to become a fully fledged band.
A few months later, and with four songs in tow, we took a trip over to the Brighton Electric Studio to record some demos…
…Four became Five, when we found our guitarist Drew in November…
…so here’s our debut EP.
We would love to hear what you think:
We’ll be announcing our first live gig imminently!

It’s that time of year when assessments are made, opinions are thrown about and decisions are backed. Having had some considerable conversation, we’d like to present the five albums that we have enjoyed the most over the past 12 months.

Alt-J seemed to appear from nowhere in May, but their alternate-folk and harmonious sound wowed both the general public and the critics: their crowning moment coming when they won the Mercury Music Prize.
‘An Awesome Wave’ is one of those rare albums without a dull moment.
In 2011, a little song crept into the viral landscape: ‘Video Games’. It had a voice to die for provideed by a femme fatale who tugged at your heart strings with her 50′s pinup looks and voluptuous sound. Her album was probably one of the most anticipated of 2012, and it didn’t disappoint. A somewhat overly generous collection of fifteen tracks lead us on an innovative, imaginative and genuinely emotive journey with one of America’s most talented new singer/songwriters.
The Maccabees – Given To The Wild
Brighton’s favourite indie sons have been consistently evolving their sound since 2008′s debut, and the prolific quintet’s 3rd album continued this trend by bringing us more electro-tinged sounds to produce what some had already proclaimed ‘The Album of the Year’ in February.
Second Law continued off from where 2009′s ‘Resistance’ left off, with Muse’s stadium-sized sound pummeling your ear drums from the word go. Thanks to a some time out, and some children, though, there’s a wider, varied sound and some proper variety in a manner not seen since ‘Black Holes & Revolutions’.
Thanks to their catchy riffs, melodious vocals and sing-a-long genius, the boys from Northern Ireland had one of the best debut albums of recent years with 2009′s Tourist History, and this year’s sophomore release was more of the same – joyous, catchy and full foot-tappingly good music.
This week we’ve been treated to two new tracks from firm Final Form favourites: ‘Everything Everything’ and ‘Alt-J’.
The week started with the première of EE’s new single ‘Kemosabe’ on Zane Lowe’s Radio One show. Not quite as instantly catchy as ‘Cough Cough’, it’s still undeniably everything ‘Everything Everything’ and awesome and you need to listen to it:
Following swiftly along, another Final Form staple, ‘Alt-J’, revealed their collaboration with the folk trio ‘Mountain Man’ for the soundtrack to the upcoming cinematic experience that is ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘. Lovely stuff.
It’s always nice to hear new material from your favourite bands. We approve wholeheartedly.
Just a quick blog post from JB, who lists his personal favourite guitarists, complete with a Spotify playlist to listen along to.
Django Django brought their eclectic electric effervescence to the curved arches of Heaven last night and played a set to a sold-out crowd which showcased just why the band have been nominated for the Mercury prize.
Opening with the built up of little creature noises and general blips that form the ‘Introduction’ of their 2nd album, it’s a great way to introduce themselves on stage and to get the crowd going, as they lead into the immediate joy that is ‘Hail Bop’.
Their sound evolves on stage, as it does on their records – with synths and guitars making way for coconuts and shakers at a moment’s notice. At one point, the 3 ‘front-men’ are all pounding away on keyboards, before picking up their guitars in a blink of an eye. It’s a mixture of Brit-pop, 80’s synth-pop and the Beach Boys and the audience is kept enthralled, waiting to see what will happen next.
This is helped by the video-wall that lights up and undulates behind them, first a swinging light bulb, then a black and white film, then what you imagine venetian blinds would like like in a Lionel Richie video.
By the time they reach the stand out ‘Default’ – time has flown, and it’s nearly time for them to go. Cracking gig, great atmosphere and good luck to them in the Mercuries.
